A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Pentecostal Theological Seminary regarding a list of all students admitted to the school for the 2024-25 academic year on December 12, 2024.
As representatives from Volunteer State News, we are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. We requested these records under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq., preferably in an electronic format.
The requested information includes specific fields such as student names, their home zip codes or hometowns, and the names of the high schools they graduated from. This data is crucial for our ongoing reporting efforts and to maintain transparency with our readership.
We believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
