Drivers on Interstate 75 in Hamilton County should prepare for upcoming road construction that will affect traffic flow. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced that contract crews will begin installing concrete beams for a new bridge over I-75 at Hamilton Place Boulevard. This work is part of the project to improve the I-75 interchange at Hamilton Place Mall.

The construction is scheduled to start on Monday, February 24, 2025, and will take place nightly from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am ET until Tuesday, March 4, 2025. It will involve rolling roadblocks and lane closures in both directions on I-75, as well as temporary closures of the loop ramp to I-75 South from Hamilton Place Boulevard.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution while traveling through this area and anticipate delays. The speed limit has been reduced throughout the project limits. Drivers should pay attention to construction signage and be mindful of construction vehicles and personnel. The work schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Uniformed police officers will assist with traffic control and law enforcement during the construction period. TDOT encourages drivers to use motorist information tools wisely and check travel conditions before departing. The TDOT SmartWay Map provides updates on construction activity traffic, and travelers can also call 511 for statewide travel information.

The Move Over Law, enacted in 2006, requires drivers to move over for emergency vehicles stopped on the side of the road. Violating this law in Tennessee may result in up to 30 days in jail and a maximum fine of $500.
