FOIA Request to Bethel University Regarding Student Admission List for 2024-25 on December 12, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Volunteer State News have submitted a request under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq., for a list of all students admitted to Bethel University for the academic year 2024-25.
The requested records specifically include the names of all admitted students, their home zip codes or hometowns, and the names of their graduated high schools. We have requested these records in an electronic format for ease of access and dissemination.
Our role as a media organization involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records such as these is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In line with this, we believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information. We await a response from Bethel University regarding this request and will continue to keep our readers updated on developments in this matter.
