The Tennessee office of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has awarded the Guardian of Small Business honor to State Representative Lowell Russell. This award recognizes legislators for their support of small business initiatives.
Jim Brown, NFIB State Director, acknowledged Russell's commitment, stating, "Lowell Russell has been a terrific supporter of small business since becoming a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives in 2019." He emphasized Russell's role in supporting tax, labor, tort, and regulatory reforms, noting his "100 percent NFIB Voting Record in 2023-24" as evidence of his consistent support for small business interests both in his district and across the state.
The award presentation took place at Greer's Home Furnishings in Loudon, which is a member business of NFIB. Russell, who chairs the Civil Justice Subcommittee, holds positions on several other committees including Civil Justice, Criminal Justice, Transportation, and Ethics.
The NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business is its most prestigious award for legislators, aimed at recognizing leadership in supporting small businesses. The NFIB Tennessee Leadership Council, comprising NFIB members, decided to honor Russell for his significant contributions in this area.
Representative Russell expressed his gratitude, stating, “It’s a great honor to be recognized with the NFIB Guardian of Small Business award. I’m passionate about supporting our entrepreneurs and their employees and will continue to fight for sound policies that help them. Our state’s economy only does well if small businesses are growing, which will always be part of my platform.”
