The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has awarded state Representative Lowell Russell with the Guardian of Small Business award. The Tennessee office of NFIB, known for its advocacy on behalf of small businesses, recognized Russell's contributions at Greer's Home Furnishings in Loudon.

"Lowell Russell has been a terrific supporter of small business since becoming a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives in 2019," stated NFIB State Director Jim Brown. He added that Russell's support for tax, labor, tort, and regulatory reforms has been beneficial for small businesses in Tennessee. "His 100 percent NFIB Voting Record in 2023-24 demonstrates his continuing support for small businesses in his district and statewide."

Russell serves as chair of the Civil Justice Subcommittee and is a member of several other committees including Civil Justice, Criminal Justice, Transportation, and Ethics.

The Guardian of Small Business award is NFIB's highest honor given to legislators who show exceptional support for small business issues. The decision to present this award to Russell was made by the NFIB Tennessee Leadership Council, an advisory board consisting of NFIB members.

In response to receiving the award, Russell expressed his commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and their employees: "It’s a great honor to be recognized with the NFIB Guardian of Small Business award. I’m passionate about supporting our entrepreneurs and their employees and will continue to fight for sound policies that help them. Our state’s economy only does well if small businesses are growing, which will always be part of my platform."
