FOIA Request Sent to Vanderbilt University Regarding Student Admission Records for 2024-25 on December 12, 2024

FOIA Request to Vanderbilt University Regarding Student Admission Records for 2024-25 on December 12, 2024. The request was sent by Volunteer State News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In our pursuit of transparency and accountability in public institutions, we have requested records under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq. Specifically, we are seeking a list of names of all students admitted to the school for the academic year 2024-25. The desired information includes each student's name, home zip code or hometown, and the name of their graduated high school.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this request aligns with our role in disseminating information and holding public institutions accountable. Consequently, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We look forward to Vanderbilt University's cooperation in providing these records and furthering transparency within our community.
