A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Milligan University concerning the admission records for the academic year 2024-25 on December 12, 2024.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Volunteer State News requested specific records under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq. The request was specifically for a list of names of all students admitted to the school for the upcoming academic year.

The information sought includes each student's name, home zip code or hometown, and the name of their graduated high school. This data is crucial in helping us fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

As a media organization, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as this information will be used in disseminating news to the public. We await Milligan University's response and will continue to keep our readers updated on this matter.
