A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Le Moyne-Owen College in Tennessee regarding the list of all students admitted for the 2024-25 school year on December 12, 2024.
The request was made by Volunteer State News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of our commitment to transparency and public accountability, we have requested these records under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq.
The specific information requested includes a list of names of all students admitted to the school for the upcoming academic year with additional details such as their home zip code or hometown and the name of their graduated high school.
As members of the media, we believe access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
