A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Strayer University-Tennessee regarding student admission records for the 2024-25 academic year on December 12, 2024. The request was made by Volunteer State News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

We at Volunteer State News are seeking access to a list of names of all students admitted to the school for the upcoming academic year. Specifically, we have requested information that includes each student's name, home zip code or hometown, and the name of their graduated high school.

Our goal is to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public through our reporting. As such, we believe that access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.

In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq.

We await Strayer University-Tennessee's response and will continue to keep our readers informed about this and other matters of public interest.
