A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Tennessee Technological University regarding the admission records for the 2024-25 school year on December 12, 2024. The request was made by Volunteer State News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The requested records specifically include a list of names of all students admitted to the school for the upcoming academic year. Additional information such as the home zip code or hometown of each student and the name of their graduated high school was also asked for.

As representatives from Volunteer State News, we believe access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from Tennessee Technological University and will continue to strive towards transparency and accountability in our reporting.
