FOIA Request to The University of Tennessee Health Science Center Regarding Student Admission List for 2024-25 on December 12, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Volunteer State News have sent a request under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq., to The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. We have asked for an electronic format list of all students admitted to the school for the academic year 2024-25.
The requested information includes specific fields such as the student's name, home zip code or hometown, and the name of their graduated high school. This data is crucial in our role as media professionals in gathering and reporting news to the public.
We believe that access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
