Drivers in Hamilton County should prepare for upcoming lane closures on Interstate 75 due to concrete repair work. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced that these closures are part of Phase 2 of the project to widen and improve the I-75 at I-24 interchange.

The construction will begin on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 9:00 pm ET and continue through Monday, March 10, 2025, at 6:00 am ET. During this time, the right lane on I-75 South from SR 153 to the bridge over the CSX railroad will be closed. Traffic merging from SR 153 South onto I-75 South must yield before joining the highway. However, I-75 North will remain unaffected.

TDOT advises drivers to consider alternate routes as significant delays are expected during this period. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted signs and stay alert for any changes in traffic conditions.

This roadwork is dependent on weather conditions and may be rescheduled if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur. Uniformed police officers will be available to assist with traffic control.

For more information about the project, drivers can visit TDOT's website or use various motorist information tools like the TDOT SmartWay Map for real-time updates. Travelers can also call 511 for statewide travel details.

A reminder to all drivers: never engage in tweeting, texting, or talking on a cell phone while driving. The Move Over Law mandates moving over for stopped emergency vehicles and was enacted in Tennessee in 2006. Violating this law can result in penalties including up to 30 days in jail and fines up to $500.
