Motorists in East Tennessee should prepare for a range of construction projects and road closures from February 27 to March 5, 2025. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has outlined several areas where roadwork is expected, advising caution and alertness due to potential lane closures, slowed traffic, and worker presence.
In Blount County, on I-140 between mile markers 11 and 0, shoulder closures are in place with possible nightly lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. as part of an I.T.S. expansion project. Meanwhile, SR 162 Pellissippi Parkway will see lane reductions for bridge work, with rolling roadblocks likely during the day for blasting operations.
In Campbell County, sections of I-75 and SR 63 may experience temporary lane closures at various times for ongoing construction projects. Similarly, in Carter County, the US 321/SR 67 Bridge over the Doe River remains closed due to storm damage; large trucks should find alternative routes.
Cocke County's I-40 East at mile marker 451 is also closed because of storm damage, with detours advised via I-81 North or I-26 East for through traffic heading into North Carolina.
In Greene County, the SR 107 Bridge over the Nolichucky River is closed following recent storms; drivers should seek alternate paths. Likewise, SR 351's bridge over the same river operates with one-lane traffic managed by signals.
Construction work continues in Jefferson County on I-81 North and South with shoulder closures for resurfacing activities. In Johnson County and other regions affected by storm events like Unicoi and Washington Counties, certain roads remain closed until further notice.
