Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will implement a closure of the I-55 Mississippi River Bridge this weekend. The purpose is to continue construction activities on the I-55 and Crump interchange. All scheduled work depends on weather conditions. This upcoming closure marks the seventh out of eight allowed under the current contract.

The bridge will be closed from Friday, February 28, at 8:00 pm until Monday, March 3, at 6:00 am. During this period:

- Southbound I-55 will be closed at Bridgeport Road in Arkansas.

- Northbound I-55 will be closed at South Parkway in Tennessee. Local traffic can proceed to the McLemore exit.

- Westbound Crump Boulevard will also be closed.

A detour will be posted for affected routes.

Northbound traffic on I-55 will be diverted to a newly completed bridge section but restricted to a single lane through the construction zone and across the bridge.

Travelers are encouraged to stay updated on construction activities and access live-streaming SmartWay traffic cameras via www.TNSmartWay.com/Traffic. Information is also available by dialing 511 or following TDOT on Twitter for statewide travel updates at https://twitter.com/myTDOT or specifically for West Tennessee at https://twitter.com/NicLawrenceTDOT.

Drivers are advised to utilize all motorist information tools responsibly and "Know Before You Go!" by checking travel conditions before departure. TDOT reminds drivers not to tweet, text, or talk on a cell phone while driving.
