FOIA Request to The University of Tennessee-Knoxville Regarding Student Admissions for the 2024-25 School Year on December 12, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Volunteer State News have submitted a request under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq., for a list of all students admitted to the school for the 2024-25 school year.
The requested information includes student names, their home zip codes or hometowns, and the names of their graduated high schools. We believe that access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public as a media organization, we have also requested a fee waiver as per provisions available for media professionals.
