A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Johnson University regarding a list of all students admitted to the school for the 2024-25 academic year on December 12, 2024.

As part of our commitment at Volunteer State News to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have requested specific records under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq. We have asked for these records preferably in an electronic format.

The details requested include student names, their home zip codes or hometowns, and the names of the high schools they graduated from. This information is essential for us as we continue our work in gathering and reporting news to the public.

Access to public records such as these is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver.

At Volunteer State News, we remain committed to ensuring that information about important local matters remains accessible and transparent.
