FOIA Request to Freed-Hardeman University Regarding Admission Records for the 2024-25 School Year on December 12, 2024.

A request was made by Volunteer State News under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq., seeking admission records from Freed-Hardeman University. The request specifically asked for a list of all students admitted to the school for the academic year of 2024-25.

The information sought includes each student's name, home zip code or hometown, and the name of their graduated high school. The request emphasized that access to public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities as a media organization. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

As members of Volunteer State News, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals due to our role in disseminating information. We eagerly await a response from Freed-Hardeman University and will continue to strive towards comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
