FOIA Request to Baptist Health Sciences University Regarding Admission Records for 2024-25 School Year on December 12, 2024. As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Volunteer State News have sent a request under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq., to Baptist Health Sciences University.
Our request is for the release of records detailing the names of all students admitted to the university for the academic year of 2024-25. We have specifically asked for these records to include the student's name, home zip code or hometown, and the name of their graduated high school.
We believe that access to such information is crucial in our role as a media organization. It allows us to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. This particular request is part of our broader effort to ensure transparency in public institutions, especially those involved in education.
As a media organization, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records such as these admission lists is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
