A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Omega Graduate School regarding the list of students admitted for the 2024-25 academic year on December 12, 2024. The request was made by Volunteer State News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In accordance with the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq., we requested that the information be provided in an electronic format. The specific data sought includes student names, their home zip codes or hometowns, and the names of their graduated high schools.
As a media organization, we at Volunteer State News are committed to gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
