The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Beach Volleyball Sweeps Home-Opening OVC Doubleheader, Defeats Both Lindenwood & Morehead State 4-1

The Chattanooga Mocs beach volleyball team earned an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader sweep on the first day of the "OVC Weekend at Chattanooga" weekend event on Friday, posting a pair of 4-1 victories over Lindenwood and Morehead State at the UTC Sports Complex Beach Courts.
 
Following the pair of wins, Chattanooga improves to 6-5 overall and 2-1 inside OVC play. Lindenwood dropped to 4-5, 0-1 OVC while Morehead State moved to 4-6, 0-2 OVC after the defeat.
 
"I'm really proud of the team for showing up today and competing the right way," said head coach Darin Van Horn.
 
"We did all the little things right to give us a chance at success. We hope to continue and build on this momentum heading into tomorrow's matches."
 
In the first match of the day for Chattanooga against Lindenwood, the team split the opening No. 4 and No. 5 matchups to take a 1-1 tie into the final three matches. Kaye Gresham and Madelina Myers-Osband provided the 21-14, 21-14 victory at the No. 5 slot.
 
It was a clean sweep of the top three pairings for UTC as Neva Clark and Joy Courtright capped things off with a 21-15, 16-21, 15-12 tiebreaking win in the top spot. Maddie Lecik and McKenna Faychak posted a 21-12, 21-14 win at No. 2 while Julia Davis and Madi Morris earned a convincing 21-10, 21-7 win at No. 3.
 
During the team's second match against Morehead State, the Mocs once again earned a split in the No. 4 and No. 5 matches to kick things off. Grace Frigaard and Halle Olson provided the win with a 19-21, 21-18, 15-13 comeback win in the No. 4 position.
 
The duo of Davis and Morris cruised once again in their No. 3 match and notched a 21-14, 21-15 victory to put the team ahead 2-1 coming down the stretch. The freshman tandem of Faychak and Lecik clinched the team's victory with a 21-11, 21-16 win at No. 2 before Clark and Courtright finished things with a 21-12, 17-21, 15-9 win at the top.
