The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team heads east to Bristol, Tenn., to face Charleston (WV) and Quincy in neutral site matches to wrap up the week. The Railsplitters play the Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and the Hawks at 1 p.m. on Friday at King's Student Center Complex.

Lincoln Memorial enters the roadtrip at 3-3 after sweeping both Mount Olive and Barton on Friday and Saturday, respectively, in the first two home matches of the season at Mary Mars Gym.

The Railsplitters will be looking to avenge a five-set loss to the Hawks from last March. Quincy's first matches of the season will be Thursday, while Charleston swept both Belmont Abbey and D'Youville College to begin its season 2-0.

Head coach John Cash and the Railsplitters are coming off a 2022 season when they went 20-7, beat two ranked foes (No. 11 Loyola-Chicago on Jan. 28 and at No. 14 McKendree on March 12), and won the Independent Volleyball Association Tournament Championship.

Railsplitter Strikes

  • The Railsplitters rank in the Top 20 nationally in blocks per set (2.18, 13th), assists per set (11.09, 17th) and hitting percentage (.303, 18th) after the first two weeks of competition.
  • Freshman outside hitter Shay Spadaro's .482 hitting percentage is good for 10th in the NCAA, while redshirt junior middle hitter Matthew Gentry stands at 12th nationally (.468).
  • Junior setter Kohl Kutsch ranks 24th in assists per set (9.10) so far this year.
  • Lincoln Memorial defeated No. 7 UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 6 for its first win over a Top 10 team in program history.
  • Freshman Zadyn Lebreche and sophomore transfer Asa Labreche trained with the USAV Beach National Team Development Program this fall and look to be impact additions to this year's team.
