Elon Smallwood, a graduate student for the Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team, is the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Smallwood, who played for Tusculum University out of high school, averaged 25.0 points in two outings for the Trojans this week.
The Brentwood, Tenn., native scored 32 points against the Lake Erie College Strom, hitting 12-of-17 shots overall while connecting on 5-of-7 from 3-point range in a three-point loss to the storm, adding two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
The graduate student netted 18 points, four rebounds, and two assists against Walsh College, making 6-of-17 from the field with three more triples.
For the week the Ravenwood High School product combined to average 25.0 PPG (50 points) 3.0 RPG (6 rebounds) 2.0 APG (4 assists) w/ two steals and one block. He shot 52.9% (18-34) from the field, 50% (8-16) from three-point range, and 85.7% (6-7) from the foul line.
