MensVB Signs Wheatley and Salva-Torres to 2023 Class | Lincoln Memorial University

Head coach John Cash and the Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team have announced the signings of Griffin Wheatley and Eliel Salva-Torres to their 2023 freshman class.

Wheatley, a 6-6 outside hitter from Cincinnati, Ohio, goes to Walnut Hills High School and has played with the Cincinnati Attack club team.

"Griffin Wheatley is an extraordinarily talented and diverse player," Cash said. "He's been challenged at the high school and club levels and trained in a way that will directly transcend to what we're doing here at LMU. He is also an academic stud, and we are super excited to have him on campus."

The Queen City native plans to major in business once arriving in Harrogate.

Salva-Torres, a 6-6 middle hitter out of Kissimmee, Fla., has played at Tohopekaliga High School and for the Winter Park Volleyball Club.

"Eliel Salva-Torres is an athletic specimen like no other," said Cash. "He has only been playing the game for a few years and has already made tremendous progress. He will have an immediate impact on how things go in practice and during our matches. One of the nice young men you'll ever meet! We are absolutely excited to have him on campus as well."

The Floridian plans to study sports management at Lincoln Memorial.

The Railsplitters are coming off a 2022 season when they went 20-7 and won the Independent Volleyball Association Tournament Championship. They begin their season with a west coast trip with four games Jan. 4-7, including the season opener at Pepperdine on the 4th at 10 p.m. ET.
