King University opens season at King Invite

Swimming their first meet of the season, the King University men's swimming team finished fourth at the season-opening King Invitational.

THE BASICS

LOCATION: Kingsport Aquatic Center; Kingsport, Tenn.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The 200 yard freestyle team of Dale Bruce, Sam Osowiecki Jan Kuljak and Haakon Meyer came in fourth, with a time of 1:28.70.
  • Bruce and Kuljak would finish back-to-back in the 200 yard IM, with Bruce taking third with a time of 2:00.37, with Kuljak coming in at 2:01.51 for a fourth-place finish.
  • In the 400 yard medley relay, the team of Kuljak, Carson Eliasen, Bruce and Gideon Bezuidenhout brought home another fourth-place finish, with a total time of 3:34.76.
  • Eliasen finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.08.
  • Bruce earned his second top-five of the event in the 100 yard butterfly, touching the wall in 51.53 seconds to finish in fourth.
  • Kuljak had another strong swim in the 100 yard backstroke, finishing in fifth with a time of 53.98 seconds.
  • In the 100 yard freestyle, the Tornado again had a pair of top-five finishes, with Kuljak touching the wall in 46.22 seconds to finish in third while Osowiecki came in fourth with a time of 48.57 seconds.
  • Bruce took third in the 200 yard backstroke with a finals time of 2:14.03, while Eliasen was fifth with a time of 2:15.95.
  • The 400 yard freestyle relay team consisting of Kuljak, Bezuidenhout, Osowiecki and Bruce came in second, with a total finals time of 3:10.95.
UP NEXT

  • The Tornado will have their first dual of the season on Oct. 28 at Emory & Henry.
