Fisk University Lady Bulldogs Claim Three Wins at Owls Invitational

The Fisk women's volleyball team had a successful weekend at the Mississippi University for Women Owls Invitational in Columbus, Mississippi. The Lady Bulldogs ended the weekend with three wins, headlined by victories over Tougaloo and Rust.

The Lady Bulldogs also won over NCAA Division II opponent Miles College.

Fisk Volleyball got off to a slow start on the weekend, dropping a three-set match to tournament host Mississippi University for Women. "It's been difficult for us to get into a rhythm," said Head Coach Jessica Enderle. "We have had several starters out due to various injuries or illness, and we haven't had the opportunity to settle into a consistent lineup."

After dropping the first set 19-25, the Lady Bulldogs recovered and claimed the following three sets against Miles College, winning set four by a narrow 27-25 margin. Three players finished double figures in kills, led by Jalyn Perry (SR/Spring Hill, TN) with 13 kills, followed by Ryann Reed (SR/Arlington, TX) and Nyla Troncoso (FR/White Plains, NY), who contributed 10 kills each. Grad senior Skye Faucher (SR/Castries, St. Lucia) secured a double-double with 38 assists and 16 digs. Junior libero Jadyn Brackins (JR/Spring Hill, TN) led the team with 32 digs.

The Lady Bulldogs followed up the next morning with a win over Tougaloo, cruising to a 3-0 sweep winning 25-22, 25-20, and 25-22. "We started to settle in," said Enderle. "there is still plenty of room for growth, but this match showed a lot of promise." Setter Skye Faucher had another double-double performance with 28 assists and 11 digs.

The Lady Bulldogs closed out Sunday's final matchup with a sweep of Rust College, winning 25-16, 25-9, 25-20. Pin attackers Trinity Crawford (SO/Fort Worth, TX) and Jalyn Perry posted 10 kills each. Skye Faucher was tough behind the serving line leading the team with 5 aces.

Senior opposite Jalyn Perry was named to the Owls Invitational All-Tournament Team. She was a force at the net, leading the weekend with 35 kills and 8 blocks.

Next up, the Lady Bulldogs will face the Lady Eagles of Pensacola Christian College on Friday, September 16, at the Henderson A Johnson Gym on the campus of Fisk University.
