Dominique Crockett has been named the director of the University of Tennessee at Martin Office of Equity and Diversity and the Title IX coordinator.
“I am excited to have someone with Dominique’s experience and energy join our campus leadership team,” said UT Martin Chancellor Keith Carver. “Her knowledge of the field and the UT System make her an excellent resource for us.”
Crockett joins UT Martin from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she served as the assurance officer. She earned her master’s degree in health administration from Louisiana State University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Southern University A&M. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Sigma Iota Epsilon and has earned certification as an emotional intelligence trainer and an equal employment opportunity investigator.
“I plan to make an impact at UT Martin by focusing on creating a safe, supportive and informed space for students, faculty and staff,” Crockett said. “I believe I can achieve this through intentional collaborations with organizations across campus and engagement with the UT Martin campus community.”
She credits her time at the UT Health Science Center as preparation for the transition to UT Martin. Her skill set includes a vast knowledge of Title IX, Title VI and ADA reporting.
“Dominique’s role is vital as we continue to ensure UTM is open, accessible and welcoming to all,” said Dr. Mark McCloud, chief diversity and inclusion officer, upon Crockett’s arrival to campus. “Dominique’s concern for people and her student-center approach to leadership will give voice to many as we improve the climate and culture of our campus. She is a seasoned trainer, thorough investigator and change agent, and I am excited to have her as a part of our team.”
The Office of Equity and Diversity has relocated to room 212 of the Boling University Center. An open house will be held from 2-4 p.m., May 18, to acquaint the campus community to the new location.
