Census Bureau: More women than men in Tennessee in 2019

Of the 6,709,356 people living in Tennessee in 2019, 51.2 percent (3,436,078) were women and 48.8 percent (3,273,278) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Volunteer State News.

Females 18 and over outnumbered males in the same age group by 70,414. In the 65 and over age range, there were 600,501 females and 474,623 males.

Data for this story was compiled from the bureau's American Community Survey. Information from the survey helps to determine how federal and state funds are distributed.
