U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.) is lodging a formal challenge to the Electoral College.
Blackburn said she signed into the coalition with 11 other senators to ask for a 10-day emergency audit of the election.
“Millions of people feel like this election was not a fair election. People can find the problem, but defining an action that leads to a solution is something that is a little bit more difficult to do,” she told Fox News.
Blackburn said congress had a similar challenge in 1877 and that Democrats also challenged the Electoral College certification in 1969, 2001, 2005 and 2017.
“This audit will answer the questions as to what happened in some of the disputed states,” she said.
Blackburn said the electoral system needed to be assessed.
“The American people should be able to trust in their electoral system and the Electoral College is a vital part of our process, and this will be the opportunity that we have to weigh in,” she said.
