Vanderbilt women’s golf began play at the Stanford Regional on May 10 as the team seeks its fifth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance. The Commodores, seeded third, are grouped with top-seeded Stanford and Pepperdine to start the 54-hole event at the par-71, 6,271-yard Stanford Golf Course.
The importance of this regional lies in Vanderbilt’s ongoing pursuit of national success in collegiate women’s golf. With a consistent record of qualifying for NCAA Championships in recent years, advancing from this stage is crucial for maintaining their standing among elite programs.
The lineup features veterans Lynn Lim, Ava Merrill, and Sara Im leading the team. Sophomore Angelina Tolentino and freshman Kathryn Ha complete Vanderbilt’s five-player roster. Elizabeth Rudisill will serve as alternate during the tournament.
Head coach Greg Allen said, “If you can’t get excited about playing college golf in May, then maybe check your pulse. This is the time of year when it gets really fun – all the morning workouts, long days on the golf course, endless hours on the range and the putting green are to get us prepared for this week.”
Allen also said: “We’ve talked about doing the small things really well this week and putting our focus on the things that we can control. If we can do that at a high level, then I feel good about this team getting it done.”
As competition unfolds over three rounds at Stanford Golf Course, observers will watch to see if Vanderbilt can secure another trip to nationals.
