A total of 36 student-athletes from four Vanderbilt Athletics programs were named to the 2025-26 Winter Southeastern Conference (SEC) Academic Honor Roll, according to an announcement by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey on Apr. 15.
The recognition highlights academic achievement among student-athletes, underscoring the balance between athletics and academics at Vanderbilt University. The honor roll includes individuals from men’s and women’s basketball, bowling, and swimming who qualified based on their grades during the Spring, Summer, and Fall terms of 2025.
Among those honored are Miles Keeffe (Economics), Coleson Messer (Human & Organizational Development), and Tyler Tanner (Undeclared) from men’s basketball. The women’s basketball team saw Mikayla Blakes (Medicine, Health & Society), Jada Brown (Human & Organizational Development), Madison Greene (Medicine, Health & Society), Aga Makurat (Human & Organizational Development), Aiyana Mitchell (Medicine, Health & Society), and Monique Williams (Political Science) recognized for their academic performance.
The bowling program had five athletes named: Alyssa Ballard (Culture, Advocacy & Leadership), Sydney Bohn and Natalie Kent (both Human & Organizational Development), Saphyre Nofuente (Medicine, Health & Society), and Victoria Varano (Human & Organizational Development).
Swimming had the largest group with twenty-two honorees across a range of majors including Human & Organizational Development; Medicine, Health & Society; Engineering Science; Mechanical Engineering; Biomedical Engineering; Philosophy; Public Policy Studies; Economics; Spanish; Psychology; Computer Science; Biological Sciences; and Communication of Science & Technology.
This recognition reflects continued academic success within Vanderbilt’s athletic programs. The university regularly sees its student-athletes achieve honors for balancing rigorous coursework with competitive sports commitments.
