The seventh-ranked Tennessee Lady Volunteers softball team will play against No. 17 Duke on April 15, with the game scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET start on ESPN2.
This matchup comes as Tennessee holds a record of 37-6 and is riding a six-game winning streak, having won eight of its last ten games. Duke enters the contest at 31-12 after securing a series win over North Carolina and has also won eight of its last ten games.
Wednesday’s game will be broadcast on ESPN2, featuring Eric Frede as play-by-play announcer and Danielle Lawrie as analyst. Fans can listen to Brian Rice, Voice of the Lady Vols, through a free audio stream available at UTSports.com and via the Tennessee Athletics Gameday App. Additional streaming, live stats, and radio links are accessible on the Tennessee softball schedule page at UTSports.com.
This meeting marks only the second time Tennessee and Duke have faced each other in softball. The Lady Vols claimed victory in their first encounter last season in Knoxville with a score of 1-0. Since beginning its program nine years ago, Duke has quickly become one of the nation’s top teams and reached the Women’s College World Series in 2024. Meanwhile, Tennessee has made nine trips to Oklahoma City for the tournament—including two appearances in both 2023 and 2025.
Tennessee’s recent success is highlighted by their performance when scoring three or more runs since early 2023; they hold a record of 166 wins to just nine losses under those conditions. The pitching staff continues to employ a group approach this season with five different starters—Mardjetko (14 starts), Nuwer (13), Pickens (11), Rutan (3), and Hardenburger (2). Nuwer leads with twenty-one total appearances as part of a staff that has recorded an earned run average of just 1.11 across forty-three games.
After Wednesday’s contest against Duke, Tennessee will take several days off before returning home to face Radford at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium on April 21.
