Memphis track and field secures 18 victories at Tiger Invitational

The Memphis track and field team finished its regular season with a strong showing, earning 18 victories on May 2 at the Memphis Tiger Invitational held at the Billy J. Murphy Track and Field Complex.

The event saw Memphis athletes achieve a total of 23 top-three finishes and set 18 personal bests. The meet marked the conclusion of the regular season for the Tigers, who now look ahead to postseason competition.

In individual events, Stenger won her second collegiate high jump title with a career-best leap of 1.76 meters, while Smith captured his first triple jump title by reaching 15.55 meters. In throwing events, Roberts claimed her second career javelin victory with a mark of 48.99 meters, and O’Brien earned his first win in men’s javelin with a throw of 58.18 meters.

Distance runners Braese and Guy led sweeps in their respective five-thousand-meter races; Braese finished in 17:52.36 for her second win this season, while Guy clocked in at 14:38.58 to secure back-to-back wins in consecutive meets.

The women’s four-by-one-hundred-meter relay team also took first place with a time of 45.57 seconds.

Looking ahead, the Tigers will travel to Denton, Texas for the American Conference Outdoor Championships beginning Thursday, May 14.
