U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) has released a new episode of her video series ‘Unmuted with Marsha,’ featuring economist and author Dr. Arthur Laffer. The discussion focused on the state of the U.S. economy during President Trump’s administration and examined how the legislative package known as the One Big Beautiful Bill impacts working-class Americans.
In the episode, Senator Blackburn addressed criticism that the bill primarily benefits wealthy individuals, stating: “Sometimes you will hear the Democrats say, ‘Oh, this is just a bill for the rich.’ But it’s blue-collar wages, hardworking American workers, their wages that are going to benefit the most. I know the Council of Economic Advisers had expected as much as $10,000 more in take-home pay,” said Senator Blackburn.
Dr. Laffer commented on both spending cuts and programs included in the legislation: “Within this Big Beautiful Bill, there’s a lot of good spending cuts and good spending programs involved so we’re moving towards the North Star on spending… I have never been more optimistic in my life as I am right now about the prospects for the U.S. economy,” said Dr. Laffer.
The episode is available to watch online.
Recent related communications from Senator Blackburn include interviews with White House economic officials discussing victories attributed to One Big Beautiful Bill and materials addressing claims made by Democratic opponents about its impact on Tennesseans.
